Alpha Delta Pi Philanthropy

The Ronald McDonald House is a home away from home for families with seriously ill or injured children.

The Ronald McDonald House brings families together when they need it the most by offering them a comfortable, temporary residence in proximity to a medical facility. It costs more than $100 per night per family to stay at RMHC, but families are only ever asked to pay $25. No family is ever turned away because they can’t pay!

Alpha Delta Pi adopted Ronald McDonald House Charities as our international philanthropy in 1979. One of our own Delta Delta members suggested that the Ronald McDonald House Charities should be our international philanthropy. Since that time, Alpha Delta Pi collegians and alumnae have raised $7.8 million to help provide a home away from home for the families of critically ill children receiving medical care across the country. The Delta Delta Chapter is fortunate to be located about twenty minutes from the Rogers Ronald McDonald House. We help the Rogers Ronald McDonald House provide a home away from home for their guests by donating to their monthly wish list, cooking dinner, and cleaning the house throughout the year. We donated the reading rooms in both the Rogers and Fort Smith locations. We are very fortunate because we are one of the only chapters that get to work hands-on with their philanthropy!

In addition to financial support, Alpha Delta Pi collegians and alumnae volunteer at local Ronald McDonald Houses, host ongoing pop tab collection drives, and volunteer at events to support RMHC. Alpha Delta Pi sisters raised $1,192,640.52 for RMHC during the 2014-2015 school year and many hours volunteering with RMHC: making meals, cleaning and doing yard work for a local Ronald McDonald House, hosting activity nights, welcoming guests to a hospital Family Room, and visiting with patients and family members.

Delta Delta has many opportunities to give back to the Ronald McDonald House. Every year we have an event called ADPicnic which is in the spring. We set up picnic blankets and games in our front yard and it's so much fun! There's always live music and people bring their dogs and it's a great event that brings everyone together to support RMHC. We also have a philanthropy dinner every semester where we invite our friends to buy a dinner ticket in order raise money for the Ronald McDonald House. Philanthropy dinners are a great way for all of Greek Life to get involved and help each other to raise money for each of our philanthropies. We are so lucky to have such a close Greek Life family at the University of Arkansas where everyone supports one another!

We don’t only give back to the Ronald McDonald House, we also volunteer within our local Fayetteville community. Many Alpha Delta Pi sisters volunteer with the local Fayetteville Animal Shelter, Boys and Girls Club, World Changers, Habitat for Humanity, Girl Scouts, and Meals on Wheels! Between the Ronald McDonald House, these organizations, and more, Delta Delta has donated over $5000 as well as 2000 hours of service.
