Alpha Delta Pi acknowledges the importance of scholarship and encourages girls to be ambitious and prioritize their studies.
The Alpha Delta Pi house provides a study environment for every kind of student. We have a quiet study room in our home with comfy couches, a computer, a printer, tables great for studying and dry erase boards covering the walls- great for chemistry and math practice. For those who like to be in a group setting, our dining room is always open for group work and conversation. In addition to great study areas, older chapter members extend their knowledge to their sisters by providing tutoring to younger members. We also collect all of our member’s majors and minors so girls can consult older members for advice about their major!
Each year, Alpha Delta Pi recognizes academic achievement through an Academic Honor Society Ceremony. During the ceremony, members who earned a GPA of 4.0 are awarded a free manicure, and a prestigious blue dangle to add to their badges. The women who have earned a GPA of 3.5 or above are awarded a distinguished silver dangle. Members who have earned a GPA of 3.14 or higher receive a certificate like all the other academic awards. 67 of our members earned a 4.0 last semester, 115 earned a 3.5 or higher, and 97 earned a 3.14 or higher last semester! Our fall semester GPA was a 3.2406.
We also have weekly incentives provided by our scholarship chair Grace, to make good grades. One incentive we offer is the Student of the Week jar that is awarded at chapter where a sister can recognize another sister or herself for her hard academic work that week. In addition, we have an “A” Jar where sisters can write down what tests they got an A on that week and receive fun school supplies like gel pens, highlighters and sharpies.
Many sisters have classes together, so many of them walk to class together, study together and do homework together. It is very convenient to have a sister in your class because she always has your back!
